The NCC Group Automotive Cyber Security Team was created as a direct result of performing ground-breaking, research-driven security testing and consultancy for a number of leading companies in the automotive sector, which has involved the development of new tools and techniques that can be applied across the industry. Many different disciplines are involved when researching automotive systems, including protocol analysis, hardware and software reverse-engineering, RF systems analysis, software development, code review, and fuzz testing. There are also some fundamental differences in the approach taken when researching real-time, vehicle-based, systems, because of the need to ensure that damage is not caused to target systems and that the safety of the researchers is considered and maintained at all times.

SPEAKER: Dean Hardcastle, Senior Security Consultant, NCC Group

Prior to focusing on security testing, Dean worked as part of a research and development group; designing and implementing secure technology solutions tailored to specific client needs. His experience further spans to consulting positions and work with a broad range of clients. Dean has led and delivered security assessments across a variety of industries; including financial, legal, government, utilities and transport sectors. Many of these assessments have driven the research and development of a number of PowerShell and C# based tools.

End of year celebration drinks & networking will be held after the presentations.
