Hobart March Branch Meeting: 24 March

Hobart March Branch Meeting: 24 March
Come join AISA Hobart to hear from Patricia McMillan as she shares with us "Creating a Culture of Cyber Security"

Creating a Culture of Cyber Security

Cyber security doesn't work as something that's tacked on to an organisation, or as something that only a small team is responsible for. Safeguarding data requires everyone's participation, from the board to the service desk. But how do you build this kind of willing participation? Policies, monitoring and education are useful, but on their own they're not enough to change behaviour. To create a cultural tipping point for cyber security, people need to see it as part of who they are and what they stand for. This presentation looks at keys to making cyber security meaningful in your organisation through purpose, values, involvement and context--so that safeguarding data becomes something everyone wants to do, not something extra and onerous they have to do.

Speaker: Patricia McMillan
Patricia lives at the edge where two worlds meet: the world of innovation, technology and digital transformation; and the ancient world of storytelling, which speaks to our human need to connect with each other and create sense and meaning. As the world becomes more automated and data driven, she believes that paradoxically we create the greatest value by being more human. Patricia began her career at Carnegie Mellon University and spent twenty years working in information technology in higher education and research in the US and Australia, in technical and leadership roles.  A mathematician by education and an accredited performance storyteller, Patricia helps digital leaders use the power of stories to grow their influence, build trust, and transform their organisations. She is the author of Make It Matter: The Surprising Secret for Leading Digital Transformation.  http://www.patriciamcmillan.com/about/
