Presentation Title: How North Korea stole $41 million - A first-hand story
In September 2023, the world's largest cryptocurrency casino was the victim of a cyber-attack perpetrated by North Korea's well-known threat actor group known as Lazarus. Over USD$41 million was stolen in Ethereum and other related cryptocurrency tokens. Get an inside first-hand look at the technical detail behind the attack, and the incident response involved. We'll discuss how sophisticated (or not) a nation-state adversary can be, and how much (or little) malware and customised payloads were used to accomplish such a thing.

Speaker:
Michael McKinnon is the Head of IT & Security at Easygo. Michael is a cyber security industry professional with over two decades of experience. He is a passionate AISA Member and previously was the chair of the Victorian AISA branch.
He is now the Head of IT & Security for Easygo - a technology company that enables the world's largest cryptocurrency casino, Stake.com, and builders of an increasingly popular video streaming platform, Kick.com.
Michael leads a fantastic team of IT and cyber security professionals in an organisation with a truly amazing culture.
