Hosted by the AISA Victorian Branch, please join us for a face-to-face meeting and networking opportunity with a live and interactive presentation and discussion on global shipping and information security with guest speaker Peter Cook who is Director at PCA Maritime (Australia).

In this session, you will be introduced to the global shipping industry, it’s importance, especially to the Australian economy and exposing some of the cyber vulnerabilities that exist across the industry. We will also explain the methodology for setting an international standard for the implementation of an effective maritime cyber risk maritime strategy for the global shipping industry, as well as discuss the challenges of standardisation across the global network of ports.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker and networking drinks and light refreshments will be served before and after the presentation.

Speaker:
Peter Cook
is an experienced maritime security practitioner, he has worked with intergovernmental agencies (UNODC & IMO), flag and port States, international shipping associations and private maritime security providers. Having worked in London for ten years, he is now based in Melbourne, Australia, exploring new opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region. He is an Honorary Fellow with the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) University of Wollongong. A Visiting Lecturer at City, University of London, Dalian Maritime University, China and ANCORS. He is also a Freelance Journalist, commenting on maritime security related issues for maritime industry media platforms, a co-founder and Indo-Pacific Editor of the exciting new International Journal of Maritime Crime & Security (IJMCS - http://www.ijmcs.co.uk/). 

Having retired from the marines, Peter established a maritime security consultancy working for international shipping associations, marine insurers, security providers and a technological security company.  In 2011, Peter co-founded and was then CEO of the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI). In 2016, Peter established a new maritime security consultancy working for intergovernmental organisations and a major flag State as part of their delegation at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) as part of the working group that drafted the maritime cyber risk management resolution.  Peter holds a MSc in Maritime Operations and Management and lectures on subjects related to maritime security and maritime cyber risk management.
