Topic: Introduction to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act
Hosted by the AISA Victorian Branch, please join us for a face-to-face meeting and networking opportunity with a live and interactive presentation with Ashley Johnson, who is the Head of the Technology & Operations Legal team at Medibank, who will provide a simple introduction to the Commonwealth Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and a discussion on what organisations need to implement to comply with the new requirements.

The Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure Protection) Act 2022 (SLACIP Act) came into effect on 2 April 2022 and amends the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act) to introduce the following key measures:
1.  A new obligation for responsible entities to create and maintain a critical infrastructure risk management program, and
2. A new framework for enhanced cyber security obligations required for operators of systems of national significance

The reforms in the Act seek to make risk management, preparedness, prevention and resilience, business as usual for the owners and operators of critical infrastructure assets and to improve information exchange between industry and government to build a more comprehensive understanding of threats.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker and networking drinks and light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

Ashley Johnson is a commercial lawyer. He specialises in technology and data law, including information security law. He is the Head of the Technology & Operations Legal team at Medibank, a health company providing private health insurance and health services to 3.7 million Australians. Ashley has been practising law for more than 20 years.
