Alex Tilley
With over 17 years of experience in computer security and cyber crime, Alex Tilley is a highly awarded cyber crime researcher. Beginning his career in the extremely regulated online casino industry on Australia’s Gold Coast Alex went on to implement and administer all manner of network security technologies within Australia’s banking industry. Tilley was on the forefront of research and countermeasures when phishing and malware first began to attack banking platforms and their customers, this work continued always on the cutting edge and saw Tilley become the Australian Federal Police’s senior cyber crime technical analyst where he combined his technical background with an analytical approach to the “who” and “why” of the cyber crime fight. This work saw Tilley become a supreme court recognised technical expert in the prosecution of cyber crime and child protection related offences. In 2016 Tilley made the decision to move back to the private sector accepting a position with SecureWorks Counter Threat Unit ™ (CTU), the research team that sets SecureWorks apart. Our researchers analyse threat data across our global client base and actively monitor the cyber threat landscape to provide a globalised view of emerging threats, zero-day vulnerabilities, and the evolving tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) of advanced threat actors. The CTU™ research team's primary objective is to protect your information and operations from today’s most advanced security threats, by applying its research and threat intelligence into all aspects of our security solutions.

Patricia McMillan: 'Communicating Cyber Security to Executives: Tell Their Story, Not Yours'
Patricia McMillan is a speaker, a storyteller and an experienced information technology leader.  Drawing on her background in mathematics, 20 years experience in information technology and her lifelong fascination with stories, she helps technology leaders communicate in a way that’s memorable, meaningful, real and engaging. She’s on an epic quest to replace soul-sapping work with work that fires the imagination.

Her new book, Make IT Matter: The Surprising Secret for Leading Digital Transformation is filled with strategies for using stories to build trust and influence, engage your team in your strategy, understand your customers, and inspire meaningful change, so you can help your organisation thrive through digital transformation.

Her IT career began at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and she’s helped leaders in organisations like MOQdigital, the Australian Cyber Security Centre, The University of Sydney, The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, The University of Auckland, The University of Queensland, Intersect Australia, the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation, and the National Library of Australia.

Berin Lautenbach – General Manager Security Operations at Telstra

Berin’s 23 year career has been focussed on Information and Cyber security. He started in what was then known as Defence Signals Directorate in the computer security team, working on Orange Book and ITSEC evaluations. Since then he has performed various security related technical and leadership roles in Sun Microsystems, Dimension Data, GE Capital and now has joined Telstra as the GM – Advice and Assistance where he helps projects and initiatives inside Telstra find a safe way to “yes”.

Nick Savvides – Manager Cyber Security Strategy at Symantec

Nick Savvides is responsible for Symantec’s Cyber Security Strategy across Asia Pacific and Japan. In this role, Savvides’ charter is to provide local market insights that influence global strategic planning and product development. Savvides works also with organisations and governments to develop their cyber security strategies and solve complex business problems.

He has worked on some of the largest business information security projects in Australia, affecting the way many Australian’s interact with their employers, banks and governments. An information security expert, with approximately 20 years experience, Savvides has spent the last 10 years at Symantec in various product and sales engineering roles.

He has presented at more than 60 conferences, contributed to many high profile panel discussions and regularly appears in the media on cyber security related topics. Savvides is an active member of the IT Security community and a member of a number of industry bodies. He is a Science graduate of The University of Melbourne.

 
Michelle Price, Senior Adviser, Cyber Security, ANU


Michelle Price is Senior Adviser, Cyber Security at the National Security College at ANU, on secondment from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. She is responsible for delivering NSC’s program of activities on cyber security.

Across the public and private sectors, Michelle has 20 years’ experience in strategy development, risk management and strategic communication. Her recent achievements include delivery of the Australian Government’s 2015 Cyber Security Review and recently released Cyber Security Strategy. 

Michelle holds degrees in Economics (Macquarie University) and Visual Communication (University of Technology, Sydney) and is an alumna of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Michael Wilkinson, Director, Security & Intelligence, Asia-Pacific

Michael Wilkinson is a leading cyber security incident response and digital forensics practitioner who has conducted hundreds of data breach investigations around the world and helped large enterprises and government agencies improve their incident response capability. At Nuix he helps customers improve their threat readiness through process review, training, security consulting and threat advisory.

Before joining Nuix, Mike was a Managing Consultant at Trustwave SpiderLabs, where he led a global team of consultants who helped clients contain and remediate security incidents. He previously worked as a digital forensics specialist with the NSW Police Force and developed a Masters program in digital forensic science at Champlain College in the United States. He has published papers and presented at conferences on diverse information security and digital forensics topics.
