Brisbane 14 December: Social & Branch meeting

Brisbane 28 Sep - Anatomy of Incident Response
In this session Jodie Siganto will take us through the findings of her research into the cyber security skills shortage in Australia.
Part 1
Topic:
‘Australian cyber security skills shortage’
In this presentation to members, Dr Jodie Siganto will outline some interesting findings from AISA's recent research into the Australian Cyber Security Skills Shortage. One important finding is that confusion and lack of clarity around the skills required by employers for cyber security roles is one of the biggest contributors to the cyber security skills shortage. To address this AISA is working on an Australian Cyber Security Career Guide and Skills Framework, which will list different cyber security roles and the skills and competencies expected from people in those roles.

AISA will then map different courses & certifications to those skills and job roles, giving people a tool to work out what they need to do to pursue a career in information security and how to get to the next level in their career development.  Jodie will also talk about what the ideas behind this Guide and the Skills Framework and what they might look like.  She will be looking for feedback from members on a range of issues.

Speaker: Dr Jodie Siganto
Jodie graduated as a lawyer and after eight years in private practice became in-house counsel for computer companies Tandem, Unisys Asia and Dell Financial Services. In 2000, she co-founded Bridge Point Communications where she worked in security management consultancy.
