AISA NSW Branch Meeting & Town Hall | 16 February 2023

AISA Branch Meeting
Hosted by the AISA NSW Branch, please join us for a face-to-face meeting and networking opportunity with two interactive presentations and discussions. The first presentation explores what learnings circular economy can provide in cyber security with guest speaker Gurvinder Pal Singh who is the Head of Cyber Security at Bingo Industries. In the second presentation, Fiona Long who is CEO and Founder of InfoSecAssure and Cyber Security Consulting, will discuss the success and challenges of information security assurance.

This event is now full.

Presentation 1 - What cyber security can learn from circular economy?
Cyber security and Circular Economy (CE) are not the terms taken together. Cyber security is often related to hacking, loss of privacy or phishing, and CE is about climate change and environmental protection. However, cyber security can learn quite a few things from CE, and this session will focus on the learnings from CE that can help sustainable cyber security with ever changing global business dynamics, attack surface and pervasive new technologies.

Presentation 2 - Stop drowning in lake assurance: Supply chain security and a new frontier
This presentation will cover information security assurance at its best and at its worst.

The following key topics will be covered:

  • Supply chain risks and case studies
  • Security clauses in supplier agreements
  • The Security Questionnaire Vortex (the good, the ugly and the absurd)

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and networking drinks with light refreshments will be served after the presentations.

Speakers:

Gurvinder is a seasoned cyber security, risk, and assurance leader with over 24 years of experience in private and public sector. Town Hall Discussion on the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy
The Hon Clare O’Neil MP announced in her National Press Club address in December 2022 that the government will be taking proactive measures to improve cyber security awareness, engagement and regulations to create a safer and more secure online environment.

As part of a range of measures, the government is developing the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy. In line with our continued commitment towards strengthening the sector, AISA will be drafting a paper to facilitate the development of this new Cyber Strategy.

AISA has organised roundtables with industry leaders and member Town Hall meetings to discuss inputs into strategy requirements, vision and key priority areas to collate the needs of the industry, our members and the Australian public.
These roundtables are strictly limited to invited industry representatives only, with AISA member town halls being held around the country.
