Darwin Branch Meeting - April 30

Join us for the first Darwin event of the year!

Compromised site with undetectable Malware - a story from the Territory
The case study is based on a true story from Northern Australia. The effect the undetectable malware had on the community-based organisation is beyond belief. What is most concerning was, the operation of this malware captured personally identifiable information (PII) and exfiltrated to a remote site. Come along to this session to hear more from the speaker.

Speaker: Scott Bevan, Borjatec
Scott has been an Incident Responder across 20 years for multiple Tier 1 service providers including Digital, Compaq, HP and CSG and has worked within the state and federal arena as a Cyber Analyst for the Northern Territory Government and Department of Corporate Information Services.  Scott has worked in Cyber Security across all areas of ICT including Desktops, Servers and Networking on Enterprise level contracts and has spent the majority of the last three years directly responding to alerts and alarms from Enterprise level Protection suites as well as implementing the ASD Essential Eight across multiple Enterprises. In that time Scott has been a part of every significant Cyber event since the 1990s in the Tier 1 space.

Prior to that Scott spent many years working for local service providers removing virus’s, restoring compromised machines and providing support in this area when it was merely Incident Response. Scott currently works for a local Service Provider, Borjatec, specialising in the medium business level and considers himself a Subject Matter Expert in the area of Cyber Security False Positives!

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker at the end of the presentation.

Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.
