Dr Tim McIntosh from Cyberoo Pty Ltd will start with an exploration of the revolutionary capabilities of generative AI, encompassing a spectrum from text and image generation to advanced cybersecurity concerns. We will scrutinise the implications on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, alongside the pressing challenges posed by authentication and authorisation in a rapidly evolving cyber landscape.
The discussion extends to the complex dynamics of regulatory frameworks, including the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act and ISO 42001:2023, highlighting the subtle discrepancies and the importance for a strategic, informed approach to generative AI deployment and governance. Speaker:
Dr. Tim McIntosh is the Generative AI & Cybersecurity Research Strategist at Cyberoo Pty Ltd, and an adjunct lecturer in cyber security at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Tim completed his PhD in cyber security at La Trobe University.
His research focuses on two main areas: ransomware mitigation, and the cybersecurity implications of LLMs (Large Language Models) to improve cyber defence and education. His current research projects include brainwashing LLMs, inducing the semantic instability of generative AI, and exploring proper containment of the theoretical AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).
