September meeting wrap

September 2016

Daniel Cox, from the BrisSEC subcommittee in the Brisbane branch, chaired the meeting and opened with an update on upcoming local meetings for the Brisbane Branch. He also provided an update on BrisSEC17.  This year’s BrisSEC17 theme will be Ubiquitous Security. Paul, from Crowdstrike, our meeting sponsor, was welcomed at the meeting and made himself available for discussion after the presentation.

Our meeting featured a presentation from AusCERT General Manager, Thomas King, who gave an engaging talk on incidence response. Mr King encouraged the Brisbane members to make security part of all areas of IT and finished on three main points: understand your digital assets, understand the cyber risks, and develop an incident plan. There were around 40 members in attendance there was a lot of discussion and questions for Mr King following his presentation.

We look forward to seeing you at the National Conference in October and the next Brisbane Branch meeting on 30 November, which will involve a presentation from Mr Dave Jarvis. Register now for this meeting.
The September AISA Brisbane meeting, held on 28 September, was sponsored by Crowdstrike and BDO.
