AISA and SecTalks Collaboration Session
In partnership with South Australia Cyber Security Innovation Node, AISA Adelaide and SecTalks are hosting a collaboration session for Cyber Week! If you are an AISA or SecTalks member, join us for an afternoon of collaboration, with two South Australian industry speakers and a networking opportunity.

Session 1: I don’t always do cyber but when I do, I threat program!
The Australian energy sector needs to be efficient, reliable, and sustainable to support the growth of the nation. While new and evolving technologies have been increasingly leveraged in support of this, doing so has increased the exposure to cyber security risks that directly threaten the delivery of energy services. Dependencies on legacy hardware and software has further increased the attack surface, increasing the opportunities for cyber adversaries of varying capability and intent to compromise the sector. In this presentation, we will walk through the constituents of a robust cyber threat program, illustrating the journey from reactive to proactive threat-informed defence that SA Power Networks has begun in response to the evolving energy sector threat landscape.

Speaker: Jonathan Thompson
Jonathan is the Cyber Threat Specialist at SA Power Networks. As a successful cyber security professional and software engineer, Jonathan has worked across Defence, public, and private organisations. Jonathan started his career in cyber security at Defence Science and Technology Group before moving to the Australian Cyber Security Centre. Most recently, he oversaw security operations at the University of Adelaide prior to his current role at SA Power Networks. Jonathan has experience in cyber security research, reverse engineering, digital forensics, and threat analysis as well as in leading small operational security teams across large and heterogeneous enterprise networks. In addition to his role at SA Power Networks, Jonathan applies his security and Defence experience and knowledge as the DISP Security Officer for Enerven Energy Infrastructure.

Session 2: Protecting the cloud from humans
In this technical session Ben will share technical tips to better protect the cloud from the most common attack… administrators who think they know what they are doing.

Speaker: Ben Potter
Helping individuals and organisations with cyber security is the foundation of everything Ben does. For Amazon Web Services Ben writes security best practices, open source technical content and tools, and evangelise cloud security. He also volunteers as a first responder in active cyber incidents and helps fight ransomware by supporting the No More Ransom project.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and networking drinks with light refreshments will be served after the presentations from 4:30pm.
