Session Title: Stories From The Front Line
Steve says he is mostly known for his story telling - This interactive session is simply an excuse to hear those story's related to information on cyber security covering the time when Steve’s trade was known simply as computer security through to today. We hope you find these battle stories from the security frontline both interesting and educational.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker and networking drinks with light refreshments will be served after the presentation.
Speaker:
Steve Simpson - WA State Manager, Triskele Labs
In a career spanning over 45 years in communications, IT and Information/Cyber Security Steve has often worked and provided advice in difficult or arduous conditions. This varied career included spending 22 years in the Royal Corps of Signals where he was one of the few IT and IT Security specialists at that time. Steve learned his trade serving in interesting and challenging conditions. After leaving the military he spent three years as a cyber security advisor to the British Cabinet Office in Westminster before relocating to Australia. He has been consulting in Perth and across Australia since 2006 where he continues to spread the word for the awareness of information security threats and the steps we need take to avoid becoming a victim. Steve was the chair of the AISA branch in Perth for five years taking membership from 91 through to 350 during that time. Steve has been working for Triskele Labs since February 2025 where he is currently the WA State Manager. Sometimes known to some as the ‘Godfather of Perth cyber’, Steve’s qualifications include being an IRAP Assessor, is certified as a lead auditor in all versions of ISO27001 up to 2022 and is an experienced PCI Qualified Security Assessor. Steve has been CISSP certified since 2004, a Certified CISSP trainer since 2014 and is an occasional lecturer at WA Universities on the Cyber topic.
