AISA WA Branch International Women's Day Event | 10 March 2026

Join us at Perth’s combined AISA/AWSN/ISACA/CyberWest IWD event to address the low 17% representation of women in Australia's cyber security sector. Hear insights from a panel of female industry experts and network over food at 5:30pm, followed by the panel discussion at 6:15pm with Tara Lie, Angela Kamaru, Amy Chokchai and Mushirah Codabaccus.  As a bonus, we'll be running an expert facilitated workshop from 5:00pm for those interested in learning job interview skills and techniques to help them break into the industry, led by Naomi Paik, Talent Acquisition Specialist presenting "Talent Recruitment Secrets - What No One Tells You".

Naomi Paik - Talent Acquisition Specialist
Naomi has more than 15 years in talent acquisition with global mining companies, professional services and not for profit organisations. She loves exploring new ideas and partnering with HR / Marketing teams. You’re bound to notice her fervent interest in employer branding, changing the way job adverts are written, the set up / configuration of applicant tracking systems and user experience.

Panel Session: Balance the Scales
Have you ever asked why women's participation in Australia's cyber security industry only accounts for 17%? Have you ever asked what can be done to remediate this very shocking statistic? Come along to Perth's AWSN/AISA/ISACA combined IWD event to find out what our expert panel of women in cyber security think and are doing about this.

Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers during a Q&A session.

Panellist 1:

Tara Lie - Information & Technology Governance Manager / PhD Candidate
Tara is a cyber security GRC professional with experience across start-up, non-profit, private and public sector. She is a strong advocate for girls and women in STEM, especially cyber and mathematics, and is passionate about quantum-resilience. Tara is currently a PhD candidate, looking into the digital security risks from quantum computing-driven threats to cryptography, and how we can best defend against them. Tara is the I&T Governance Manager at the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and is completing her PhD through Edith Cowan University.

 

Panellist 2:

Angela Kamaru - Founder Warembo WA Cyber
Angela founded Warembo WA Cyber, an Ubuntu-centred community where women of colour in Australian cyber security find mentorship, belonging, and accessible pathways. 21+ members in 5 months.

 

Panellist 3:


Amy Chokchai - Cyber Security Lecturer at South Metropolitan TAFE
Amy is the founder of Cyber Safeguard and a current Doctor of IT candidate at Murdoch University. She works as a Cyber Security Lecturer at South Metropolitan TAFE. 

 

Panellist 4:

Mushirah Codabaccus - Information Systems Auditor, Office of the Auditor General Western Australia
Mushirah is an information systems auditor at Office of the Auditor General Western Australia, focused on auditing, risk management and secure information systems practices across the public sector. She holds a Master of Cyber Security from ECU and previously earned a Bachelor's and Master's in Nutritional Sciences in Mauritius. Mushirah also trains IT graduates in the ACS Professional Year at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), building capability, confidence and career pathways for emerging professionals. As a member of AISA and ISACA and currently progressing towards her CISA Certification, she is committed to lifelong learning and encourages women to pursue confident, meaningful careers in technology and security.
